Hub Sixty was stoked to work with a passionate team of creators when bringing Hub Sixty to life. Creating the vibe and feel of Hub Sixty was a crucial task, and Will Joseph of Ishiki 意識 was one man behind the lens making it happen.

Previously working with legends like Pnau, What So Not and Alison Wonderland, he’s no stranger to bringing his Ishiki vibes to telling stories with film.

Will joined us to document a day on set as we shot our exclusive Capsule One range. We took a break to chat with Will about how he approaches creativity and his thoughts on Hub Sixty’s new range.

Tell us a bit about your passions and your creative work.

“I’ve been creating under Ishiki for the past year. After working in a live environment with talented artists like Pnau, What So Not and Alison Wonderland, I started shooting music videos, which I love!”

    What is Ishiki all about?

“Ishiki means consciousness in Japanese, but specifically, awareness. I love this meaning as I personally feel as if my recent expansion into the film scene has directly correlated from my attention to a conscious manifestation of goals.”

Talk us through your creative process

Be flexible enough to work with whatever happens on the day - that’s when raw, great film happens.

“I usually just rock up with a general idea of what I want and press record. I find that working with what's in front of me provides unique opportunities that only appear when working in the moment.”

Although, it doesn’t hurt to have a game plan. Shape how you work according to who you’re working with and what you’re creating. It all comes back to flexibility.

“There is a lot to be said about pre production - everything that needs to happen before I get behind the camera. When I work on larger projects like today with the Hub Sixty team, I focus a lot of energy into shot lists and storyboards.”

How does what you're wearing change the way you feel?

What you wear is important in feeling free to get creative and get the job done the best way you can. Hub Sixty was created for those who lead fast-paced lives, and clothing that can keep up with what you do is essential.

“Man, I wear whatever fits and is practical. If I'm going to a shoot, I'll definitely be wearing something which gives me flexibility. I never know when I might be upside down, holding a 30kg rig trying to get that perfect shot!”

Versatile pieces are key. You can transform your outfit with one quality for any occasion. When your day is filled with the unexpected, you feel confident knowing there’s an effortless look you can pull together in comfort and style.

“If I wanna feel good like when I’m going out for drinks, I'll chuck on my favourite kicks and a clean white shirt. Like I said, I keep it simple!”

What’s your impression of Hub Sixty?

“Clean, fresh, premium. I want it.”

The Capsule One range was created with a custom blend of fabric, handpicked for Hub Sixty garments. Each design was thought out to ensure it would be a clean, versatile piece.
